Quincy, Mass

Quincy was founded around 1625 and was actually part of Braintree in its early days.  The "City of Presidents" is located just a few minutes (8 miles) south of Boston.  Quincy has the honor of being the birthplace of two United States Presidents.  The second U.S. president John Adams was born in the city of Quincy.  His son John Quincy Adams and the sixth U.S. president was also born in Quincy.  Both presidents and their wives in buried in a crypt beneath the Church of the Presidents in Quincy Center.  Quincy is also renowned for its granite quarries which have supplied granite for the Bunker Hill Monument and Smithsonian buildings in Washington, D.C. Quincy was also a major shipbuilding city turning out vessels from a seven-masted schooner to the USS Lexington.  Visitors can climb aboard the USS Salem docked at the Fore River.  Quincy offers a perfect blend of history and modern day amenities.

Quincy Bay has a recently renovated and beautiful coastline.  Yacht clubs, walking, swimming, sailing classes and the largest marina in the Northeast are at your fingertips.  Within the city a variety of cultural events, international restaurants, historical parks and waterfront events entertain visitors and residents year round.  Educational opportunites abound through Eastern Nazarene College, a private four-year liberal arts Christian college located in the heart of Wollaston, and Quincy College, a two year college in the heart of Quincy.
